2026-05-02 introduction

I'm not much of a writer; I have zero audience or intent to cultivate one. I have precious little spare time - so what are we even doing here?

I have an urge to constantly start new projects. I branch off from partially complete projects, or worse yet - from half-baked concepts. This is a personal challenge to myself to complete something, to incentivize at least finishing by the The Cult of Done Manifesto #12 definition of publishing it online. And I suppose worst-case, it would serve as something of a portfolio if someone was thinking about hiring me.

Taleb describes using clever tricks against his human nature rather than giving rational arguments and good advice. I resonate strongly with this because at the end of the day we are profoundly irrational creatures and the obstacle standing in my way of achieving something isn't and has never been a lack of a good argument.

So that's what we're doing here -- adding another project on top of the stack in the vain hope it inspires more completion of the others, or at least putting the final nails in their coffins. I'm not going to commit to any kind of schedule lest this feel like a chore and decrease in priority. Things that interest me and could potentially be featured in the blog include machine learning, software development, simulation, somewhat professional development methodology, and very amateur homelab-ing.

In the unlikely event you're reading this, thanks for taking the time!

Check out the making of or what books I've been reading.
